Journal name: Sport Science Spectrum.

Founder: National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport.

Frequency: four times a year.

Foundation year: 1999.

ISSN: 3041-1181 (print); 3041-119X (online).

Until 2024, the journal was named “Theory and Methods of Physical Education and Sports”.

According to the Order of MES of Ukraine as of 17.03.2020, No. 409, the journal was included in the List of Scientific Professional Editions of Ukraine in the specialty 017 Physical Culture and Education and as of 02.07.2020, No. 886, in the specialty 014 Secondary Education (014.11 – Secondary Education. Physical Culture).

After renaming the journal, the relevant amendments were introduced to the List of Scientific Professional Editions of Ukraine under the Order of MES of Ukraine as of 21.02.2024, No. 220.

Scope: The scholarly and theoretical journal is intended for specialists in physical education and sports: researchers, academic staff of higher education institutions, coaches, postdoctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate students, and athletes. The journal contains scholarly articles aimed at solving topical issues in physical education and sports.

The journal covers the following issues:

  • theory and methods of training athletes;
  • human health, fitness and recreation, physical education of different population groups, physical rehabilitation;
  • sports medicine, physiology, and biochemistry of sport;
  • history, psychology, law, sociology, and philosophy in physical education and sports;
  •  

The journal aims to familiarize a wide audience with current development trends in physical culture and sports science. It covers theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of athletes’ training, the latest innovations in health preservation, novel approaches to promoting fitness and recreation, physical education of various population groups, and physical rehabilitation.
